Man caught with 500g cannabis hidden in scripture

AMRITSAR: With HP’s Chamba distrist police tightening its noose around charas ( cannabis ) paddlers, the criminals are also coming up with novel ideas to smuggle the contraband.Chamba superintendent of police (SP) Monika Bhutungru said on Monday that police arrested a charas dealer with 500g of the psychotropic substance that he had hidden in a religious book. The man, identified as Beekham Ram, had cut out a groove in the pages of the book while keeping its cover intact.Giving details, the SP said that during checking of vehicles at Rajpura, police searched luggage of passengers traveling in a bus going from Beragarh to Chamba.
