AMRITSAR: While demanding a special session of the Punjab assembly to discuss the Bargari incident report prepared by Justice Ranjit Singh Commission, former leader of opposition Sukhpal Singh Khaira accused chief minister Amarinder Singh of putting the issue in cold storage. While talking to mediapersons here on Thursday, dissident AAP MLA said, “Amarinder had said he would table that report in a routine session of the Punjab assembly. The report had names of police officers with their designation, and the role played by them in the Behbal Kalan killing. Our demand is to include their names in the original FIR without any further delay and arrest them. The recommendations of report should be implemented in toto.”The Bholath MLA said he was sorry to say that despite the commission submitting its report over a month ago, the CM had not made the it public or took any action. “Amarinder government is also towing the lines of Akali government by shielding the guilty police officials and encouraging the rough elements,” he alleged.Khaira said handing over the investigations of Kotkapura and Behbal Kalan police firing incident to CBI was was something like putting the whole thing in a cold storage. He wondered why the CM was doing that when he himself had refused to handover investigation of drug trade allegations against former Akali minister Bikram Singh Majithia to CBI in the past stating that Punjab Police were competent enough to investigate. He said a delegation of newly constituted ‘Political Affairs Committee’ comprising of 8 MLAs and 8 non-MLA would meet governor of Punjab on Friday to discuss the issue.‘Another volunteers’ gathering’Sukhpal Singh Khaira said they would hold a party volunteers’ gathering at Garhshankar in Hoshiarpur district on Saturday. While denying the allegations of foreign funding to party, he asked both Centre and state government to hold investigation into these allegations.Recalling the Bathinda convention of AAP volunteers, he said, “It was 99% vs 1%. We got the resolutions passed in a democratic way and not like them (AAP’s centre leadership) to impose a ‘subedar’ and issue directions.”
