Three bank heist accused held after brief encounter

BATHINDA: Three persons involved in a bank heist were arrested by Faridkot police after a brief encounter at Selbrah village in Bathinda on Thursday late evening. We got to know when a large number of cops descended on the village and a brief encounter ensued. The police took three away and told us where they were hiding.”Faridkot senior superintendent of police (SSP) Rajbachan Singh Sandhu said, “A brief encounter took place in Selbrah village. Selbrah resident Ranjit Singh said, “We had no idea that bank heist accused were hiding in our village. The police on Wednesday had released their CCTV grabs.According to sources, three of the accused were spotted at Selbrah village in Bathinda on Thursday evening.

BATHINDA: Three persons involved in a bank heist were arrested by Faridkot police after a brief encounter at Selbrah village in Bathinda on Thursday late evening. One of the accused received bullet injury in the thigh. The cops have not disclosed the identity of the accused yet. Six persons had reportedly looted Rs 7.80 lakh from a bank branch at Doad village in Faridkot on Tuesday. They had also taken away bank security guard’s gun with them. The police on Wednesday had released their CCTV grabs.According to sources, three of the accused were spotted at Selbrah village in Bathinda on Thursday evening. On getting information, the police reached the village. Two of the accused were arrested after minor resistance while the third accused, who had had taken shelter in a house, fired at the police party after which the cops retaliated. Sources added that a bullet hit the accused in thigh after which the police managed to overpower him.While the three accused have been taken to Faridkot by the police, their identity is yet to be disclosed. Selbrah resident Ranjit Singh said, “We had no idea that bank heist accused were hiding in our village. We got to know when a large number of cops descended on the village and a brief encounter ensued. The police is yet to identify the persons and details will be provided later.”
