I became AAP volunteer to bring about a change in the society and make governments hear a common man’s voice. They are playing politics like any other mainstream political party, I am highly disappointed,” said Narinder Sharma, an AAP volunteer, who said, he was now thinking of disassociating himself from the party. But what is happening now is totally strange and not on the lines on which party came into existence. Our programme was according to the party guidelines issued by state co-president Balbir Singh.”“I am a businessman. After all, they are AAP’s volunteers.

AMRITSAR: Back-to-back programmes of Arvind Kejriwal and Sukhpal Singh Khaira factions of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Amritsar have not only further widened the gap between the volunteers that owe allegiance to the respective groups but has also left them confused. On Thursday, former Amritsar (urban) chief of AAP Suresh Sharma, held a protest against the people named in Justice Ranjit Singh Commission report on incidents of sacrilege in Punjab and burnt their effigies. On Friday, AAP’s district (urban) president Ashok Talwar also staged a protest on the same issue and burnt the effigies.Sharma, who is now special invitee member of the political affairs committee (PAC) formed by the Khaira group during the Bathinda convention, said, “Yes, there is confusion among volunteers, but majority of volunteers are with us and support Khaira’s ideology.”He said volunteers want the Delhi high command to intervene to sink differences with Khaira and show a united face of the party especially in wake of the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.Meanwhile, Talwar said, “If some volunteers want to hold protest a day before an official programme of the party, they are free to do so. After all, they are AAP’s volunteers. Our programme was according to the party guidelines issued by state co-president Balbir Singh.”“I am a businessman. I became AAP volunteer to bring about a change in the society and make governments hear a common man’s voice. But what is happening now is totally strange and not on the lines on which party came into existence. Yesterday, I attended Sharma’s function and today Talwar’s. They are playing politics like any other mainstream political party, I am highly disappointed,” said Narinder Sharma, an AAP volunteer, who said, he was now thinking of disassociating himself from the party.
