BATHINDA: Aam Aadmi Party MLA H S Phoolka has accused All India Congress Committee president Rahul Gandhi of playing politics over Justice Ranjit Singh commission report on acts of sacrilege. Phoolka accused Rahul of putting pressure on the Punjab government to save Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim and former Punjab police DGP Sumedh Singh Saini but punish former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal as politically it suits the Congress, but despite that action was being delayed. He claimed that five Punjab ministers who were eager for punishment to sacrilege guilty are now going slow after Rahul Gandhi’s directions to the state government. Phoolka has demanded resignations from five ministers of Punjab on September 16, if by then action against Badal, Ram Rahim and Saini is not taken. Earlier, Phoolka visited the morcha site of sarbat khalsa appointed jathedars at Bargari and repeated that he would also resign if action was not taken.Phoolka while talking to mediapersons on Sunday in Bathinda said, “While debating the issue on August 28 in the state assembly, five ministers Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Navjot Singh Sidhu , Charanjit Singh Channi, Manpreet Badal and Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, were more than eager to punish Badal, Ram Rahim and Saini for their role in the sacrilege. Now, after Rahul Gandhi came into the picture, the ministers have gone slow. I urge the ministers to come and tender their resignations on September 16 and work as per their conscience.” He further said, “Even if the Congress ministers fail to resign, I will go ahead in resigning by bowing before the Almighty. I will hand over the resignation on September 17 to the speaker and election commission. He said the way these ministers raised their voice was a welcome step but going slow on their words was unacceptable. Phoolka stated that, “We were waiting for a statement from Amarinder Singh about registration of case against Badal, Gurmeet and Saini but he kept quiet on it and summed up his address without mentioning the case by saying that the case would be withdrawn from the CBI and handed over back to special investigation team (SIT).Phoolka further said now Badal was claiming that if action was taken against them, Punjab would be on fire. This is an old habit of Badals that they use the Panth and the people as per their requirement. Now, the times are different and Badals will not be able to use Punjab for their own interests.
