Cops hand over sacrilege, police firing record to SIT

Earlier,the investigations into some cases of sacrilege were made by SIT headed by deputy inspector general of police Ranbir Singh Khatra and 10 persons were arrested.Faridkot senior superintendent of police Rajbachan Singh Sandhu confirmed that the record had been handed over to the new SIT. However, a number of cabinet ministers, while taking part in the debate on Justice Ranjit Singh Commission report in the assembly last month, had made an appeal to chief minister Amarinder Singh to take back cases from CBI and set up an SIT to probe the cases. Acting on that, the CM had set up a five-member SIT.Punjab Congress president Sunil Jakhar and cabinet ministers Navjot Singh Sidhu and Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa are accusing former CM Parkash Singh Badal and SAD pesident Sukhbir Badal to be behind firing incident at Kotkapura and want registration of case against them.
