BATHINDA : The special investigation team (SIT), formed last week by the Punjab government to investigate sacrilege at Bargari and police firing on the protesters at Kotkapura and Behbal Kalan on October 14, 2015, has got the record pertaining to these incidents. Faridkot district police on Wednesday handed over the entire record pertaining to these incidents to the SIT in Chandigarh for starting the probe.Punjab's director of the bureau of investigations ADGP Parbodh Kumar is heading the newly-formed SIT. Earlier,the investigations into some cases of sacrilege were made by SIT headed by deputy inspector general of police Ranbir Singh Khatra and 10 persons were arrested.Faridkot senior superintendent of police Rajbachan Singh Sandhu confirmed that the record had been handed over to the new SIT. He said, "Police personnel from Faridkot on Wednesday went to Chandigarh with the entire record pertaining to these incidents and handed it over to the SIT members."Earlier, the Punjab government had handed over the investigations to CBI. However, a number of cabinet ministers, while taking part in the debate on Justice Ranjit Singh Commission report in the assembly last month, had made an appeal to chief minister Amarinder Singh to take back cases from CBI and set up an SIT to probe the cases. Acting on that, the CM had set up a five-member SIT.Punjab Congress president Sunil Jakhar and cabinet ministers Navjot Singh Sidhu and Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa are accusing former CM Parkash Singh Badal and SAD pesident Sukhbir Badal to be behind firing incident at Kotkapura and want registration of case against them.
