Woman, who accused cop of harassment, seeks help on social media

She is heard saying that she is living in hiding and the officer is locating her like a ‘mad dog.’ She also claimed in the message that she had given all evidence including his messages, threats and recordings to the Amritsar Cantonment station house officer (SHO) and a few newspersons.

AMRITSAR: Anticipating no help from the police despite filing a complaint of alleged sexual harassment and intimidation against a senior police officer, a woman law student, who is also a mother of a six-year-old child, has taken to the social media to seek support in her cause.Airing her alleged woes on the social media, she also stated the police officer would be responsible if any untoward incident happened to her or her family.The woman, who is pursuing law from a college in Amritsar, even met the inspector general of police (crime and women) Vibhu Raj, but did not record the statement with her.“She wants a day or two to record her statement,” Vibhu told TOI on Saturday, adding that the investigation would begin only after the woman would record her statement.On September 18, the woman, who hails from Hoshiarpur, had filed a complaint against the assistant inspector general of police (crime) Randhir Singh Uppal, posted at Chandigarh, accusing him of threatening and making sexual advances towards her. She had also accused the officer of threatening to implicate her in a police case if she refused to bow to his dictates.In one of her video message, which went viral on the internet, she is seen showing her mobile phone and talking to the said officer. But he didn’t talk of giving me protection or showed any sympathy towards me.”She also uploaded some of her alleged conversation with the police officer on the social media.
