Damdami Taksal also blames SAD for sacrilege incidents, pardon to dera chief

They said SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal had expressed his resentment with the Taksal chief for extending support to Bargari Morcha.Despite several attempts Taksal head couldn’t be contacted for comments. A senior functionary of Taksal told TOI on Friday, “This is how we express our resentment. “Harnam Singh had visited Bargari on June 8, a week after beginning of the morcha, to extend Taksal’s support despite the fact that SAD had dubbed the morcha leaders as Pakistani agency ISI’s agents,” said sources. AMRITSAR: After senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) members expressed resentment towards their leadership, prominent Sikh seminary Damdami Taksal , which is also part of Sant Samaj, is also of the view that the party should have handled incidents of sacrilege and pardon to controversial Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh differently.The differences came to the fore recently, after Taksal chief Harnam Singh Dhumma and Nanaksar Samparda chief Baba Lakha Singh chose not to attend the two-day meeting of Sikh bodies convened by SGPC. A lot of controversial decisions have been taken by SAD-backed SGPC and the SGPC-appointed Akal Takht jathedar have caused severe damage to the Panth.”Differences had erupted after the Taksal chief extended support to Bargari Morcha started by parallel jathedars.In the recent past, SAD leaders from Majha, including Ranjit Singh Brahampura, Sewa Singh Sekhawan, Rattan Singh Ajnala, Ravinder Singh Brahampura and Amarpal Singh Bony, had publicly expressed their resentment against party leadership.

However, Taksal spokesperson professor Sarchand Singh said, “Bargari Morcha is dedicated to the guru so Taksal has extended its support knowing that SAD leadership has condemned it (morcha).” He said Damdami Taksal was dedicated to Guru and Panth, which were of supreme importance to them.When asked whether Taksal was annoyed with the SAD leadership, Sarchand said, “No, there is no resentment, to be expressed in public, with the SAD leadership but we want that party should adopt the right approach to Panthic issues.”Sources informed that many leaders of Sant Samaj could also withdraw their support to SAD on its failure to address the Panthic issues.
