Sikh devotees arriving to undertake pilgrimage to Pakistan

AMRITSAR: A large number of devotees are approaching various Sikh bodies for undertaking a pilgrimage to Pakistan on the occasion of the 549th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev being celebrated at Gurdwara Janamasthan Nankana Sahib on November 23.“Many devotees believe that they may not get visa on the occasion of 550th birth anniversary in 2019, or they are scared of heavy rush so they are approaching us for undertaking pilgrimage to Pakistan to pay obeisance during 549th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak this November,” president of Bhai Mardana Kirtan Darbar Society Harpal Singh Bhullar told TOI on Tuesday.He said he had also written to the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) to honour the sentiments of Sikhs and take up the issue with the Pakistan government for issuance of liberal visas.Bhullar said that they normally sends a jatha (group of pilgrims) of around 400 Sikhs but this time over 700 devotees had already submitted their passports with the society.
