2 gangsters arrested in Asr

Amritsar: Amritsar police arrested two gangsters, Amanpreet Singh and Rohit Sharma, on Monday. Amritsar commissioner of police S S Srivastva said Amanpreet was wanted in municipal councillor Gurdeep Pehalwan’s murder case as well as for burglary in jewellery shops in Guru Bazaar. The complainant approached the bureau, claiming that Jagtar had been demanding Rs 5,000 to replace a non-working electricity transformer at his village. The incident was recorded in CCTV cameras, in which the accused, all with faces covered, were seen assaulting the employees. On Sunday night, the four men trespassed into the half-open office of the filling station located on the Amloh-Nabha road.

The employees were sleeping whenattacked.JE arrested for taking bribeChandigarh: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau on Monday arrested a junior engineer (JE) of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) for taking bribe. A bureau spokesperson said JE Jagtar Singh, posted at PSPCL’s Malerkotla sub-division, was arrested on the complaint of Mangaljeet Singh of Sangali village in Sangrur district. The complainant approached the bureau, claiming that Jagtar had been demanding Rs 5,000 to replace a non-working electricity transformer at his village. The accused had already taken Rs 2000 as a first instalment.Guard founddead at bankFazilka: A bullet-riddled body of security guard was found in the washroom of an SBI branch in Fazilka on Monday.The guard was identified as Banta Singh (55). His body was spotted by a bank employee who had gone to the toilet. He saw the body in a pool of blood and Banta’s double barrel rifle was lying on the floor. He reported the matter to the bank officials and the police. Sources said the security guard committed suicide, but no one heard any gunshot.
