Chandigarh/Bathinda: A 28-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by five men in Yamunanagar town on November 17. The police have registered a case on a statement of a man accompanying the survivor.According to the complaint, on November 17 evening the survivor was on her way to her house, riding pillion on the motorcycle of the man . As the two reached a canal near their colony, five men who were sitting there stopped the bike.They snatched the key of the motorcycle and the man's mobile phone before taking survivor to the sugarcane fields. In his complaint to the police, the man had said that the accused had assaulted him till he fainted. "The survivor has been medically examined. Police parties are conducting raids on the basis of certain clues gathered so far," said Yamunanagar superintendent of police (SP) Kuldeep Singh.Meanwhile, Moga City police have booked a man for allegedly raping and blackmailing a woman constable.According to the woman, the accused raped her on several occasions over a period of six months and also extorted Rs 2 lakh from her on the pretext of getting her reinstated when she was suspended in 2017 and to get her brother a job in the police department.In her complaint, the survivor alleged that she was posted at the crime investigation agency wing of the district police in 2017 and the accused used to visit the CIA in-charge and got friendly with her. And when she was placed under suspension in a money matter, he had assured her that he would get her reinstated and also to get her brother a police job for which he had allegedly took Rs 2 lakh from her.When she was reinstated, the accused asked her to accompany him to the Punjab DGP's office at Chandigarh for getting a job for her brother. According to the cop, the accused took her to Chandigarh and raped her after giving her sedatives. Moga City SHO Gurpreet Singh said, "During investigation allegations made by the cop were found to be true. A case of rape and blackmail has been registered against the accused and efforts are on to arrest him."
