BATHINDA: A day before the process for panchayat elections starts in Punjab, Faridkot police on Friday recovered 2.62 quintal poppy husk from a truck and tractor trolley on the outskirts of Jaito town. The tractor driver identified as Sukhpal Singh of Goniana Khurd in Bathinda too was taken into custody. Two persons have been arrested and the vehicles impounded. When signalled to stop, truck driver tried to flee but police stopped the vechicle and overpowered driver identified as Gurmail Singh of Bhadaur in Barnala.Jaito DSP Yadwinder Singh called at the spot as search in NDPS case could be made only in the presence of gazetted officer.
