AAP’s women wing begins door-to-door campaign seeking support of voters

"We have held successful meetings in all the five parliamentary constituencies and we hope that AAP’s women wing will be able to garner a sizeable number of votes from elite class women too. Nukkad natak’s had come handy in conveying their viewpoint across the fair sex especially in a run up to the ensuing Lok Sabha elections . “Initially , only a few women would see the nukkad natak’s but now there is a sizeable female audience which indicates at their interest in knowing their rights” she said.Another target of AAP’s women wing in Punjab is the high flaunt elite class women. "During our ongoing door to door campaigns, we have observed that rural women takes keen interest in know ing about her rights as compared to the urban women" she said. “They are educated women, very well know the voting process and even discuss on politics and predict on government formation but they hardly go to vote” she said.She said AAP's women wing volunteers have also started interacting with them to tell them about significance of their vote and persuade them to use their right to franchise.

AMRITSAR: Even before the notification of Lok Sabha elections, the Aam Aadmi Party 's (AAP) women wing has begun its door-to-door campaign to convince the prospective voters, especially the women to vote for their parliamentary candidates .While talking to TOI on Thursday, AAP’s Punjab women wing's co-president , Jeevanjyot Kaur , informed that immediately after announcement of five Lok Sabha candidates by AAP, the women wing of AAP began its door-to -door campaign to meet women in all the five parliamentary constituencies and made them aware of their voting rights and conveyed them AAP’s policies in both urban and rural areas.She said it was observed that most of the men believed that women had no sense of self and that they controlled their ‘choices’ and dictated them whom to vote for.“But we believe that women wield influence not only in the family but in society too and have right to choose , so we focus on them by making them aware of their voting right and how they can be part and parcel of government formation process” said Jeevajyot.Ironically, all the five candidates announced by AAP for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections so far are male."During our ongoing door to door campaigns, we have observed that rural women takes keen interest in know ing about her rights as compared to the urban women" she said.
