JALANDHAR: Announcing that union home minister Rajnath Singh will be inaugurating new facilities at Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Wagah border which would reduce hassles for border trade and transport, Punjab BJP president Shwait Malik has claimed that Modi government has brought Achhe Din for Punjab with major development projects for the state including airports and road infrastructure.He has said that these improvements in infrastructure at ICP would not only bring big relief to the already happening trade but would also be of great help if trade with Central Asian countries would increase if ties with Pakistan improved. “The development at the ICP indicate that India is interested in improving relations with Pakistan and there is big potential of increasing trade but Pakistan would have to reciprocate by stopping the use of its land by terrorists,” he said, while addressing a press conference here on Sunday.“Trade through Wagah border is already worth around Rs 5,000 crore and the development of ICP is a major landmark for increasing the trade as this route has immense potential,” he said.Malik, who was also flanked by state BJP general secretary Rakesh Rathor, said that the major developments at ICP included paving of 1.25 lakh square feet open area with cement tiles for loose cargo1, new warehouse shed, newly built roads and overall surface, a second gate for export cargo and passenger terminal independent gate.
