Jaggi Johal appears before court via video conferencing

Nine persons were arrested in the case including UK national Jaggi Johal, who was arrested from Jalandhar on November 5, 2017. The charges against them were framed in Moga court on July 12, 2018, in the illegal weapon case registered on December 17, 2016, at Baghapurana police station in district Moga. BATHINDA: A cop deposed before a court on Monday in the case registered under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) and the Arms Act involving UK national Jagtar Singh alias Jaggi Johal and seven others at Moga. The accused appeared before the court of Moga additional district and session judge Charanjit Arora through video conferencing from various jails of Punjab.However, DSP Balwinder Singh did not appear as he apprised the court about his inability to to do so due to some urgent matter. The bail was given after the police failed to file challan within the stipulated time.

On January 7, the court had issued bailable warrants against the DSP after he failed to appear.On Monday, the statement of a head constable was recorded and the case adjourned to February 4.Jaggi Johal, Dharminder Gugni, Anil Kala, Hardeep Shera, Ramandeep Singh, Taljit Singh Jimmy, Jagjit Singh and Tarlok Singh are accused in the case. The charges against them were framed in Moga court on July 12, 2018, in the illegal weapon case registered on December 17, 2016, at Baghapurana police station in district Moga. The ninth accused in the case Harminder Mintoo, commander of Khalisan Liberation Force(KLF) had died.In December 2016, Moga police had recovered a 9 mm pistol and two live cartridges from village Budh Singh Wala. Nine persons were arrested in the case including UK national Jaggi Johal, who was arrested from Jalandhar on November 5, 2017. He also accused of being involved in the targeted killings of Hindu outfit leaders in the state.Earlier, the court of Faridkot judicial magistrate Ist Class (JMIC) Chetan Sharma had granted bail to Johal and Jimmy on January 15, in a similar case registered at Bajakhana police station on June 26, 2017. The bail was given after the police failed to file challan within the stipulated time. Jimmy was released from Sangrur jail on January 19.
