Pakistan shifts Sikh fugitive out of Kartarpur Sahib

AMRITSAR: To avoid embarrassment ahead of the opening of Kartarpur corridor, Pakistan government has reportedly shifted Sikh militant Pinka from Gurdwara Darbar Sahib complex, Kartarpur Sahib, to a neighbouring town of Narowal.According to highly placed intelligence sources, Pinka’s handlers in ISI and Pak army had recommended his shifting from the gurdwara complex since Pakistan government had declined his presence or giving him shelter.Pinka alias Ravinder Singh alias Manjit Singh alias Ranjit Singh, a resident of Jammu, is accused of hijacking IC 405 from Srinagar to Lahore in 1984 and has been staying there ever since. Like other Sikh fugitives in Pakistan, he had been instrumental in anti-Indian propaganda and using support base in Indian Punjab to encourage militant activities and fan anti-Indian sentiments from there.“We are of the view that shifting of Pinka from Gurdwara Darbar Sahib complex was done under duress, especially after the Kartarpur corridor since a lot of Sikhs from India would visit Pakistan and Pinka’s presence would have only given a bad name to Pakistan before the international community,” said sources.Sources said Pinka had been asked to shift to his house in Narowal, which he built over time.Meanwhile pro-Khalistan general secretary of Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Gopal Singh Chawla held an anti-India protest in Nankana Sahib .
