Loot and scoot brides gang busted

The police claim that the gang members cheated at least four families by demanding big sums of money for marrying loot and scoot brides.The other members of the gang have been identified as Manpreet Kaur Dhaliwal, Simran Kaur Saini and Parampal Singh. Parveen Kaur lived for three months at village Golewala before “returning” to Canada to get documents and take Parwinder Singh to Canada. BATHINDA: Faridkot police claimed to have unearthed a gang that lured and duped youngsters aspiring to settle abroad. Eventually, Parveen Kaur was married to Sardul Singh’s son Parwinder Singh on January 29, 2017, at Faridkot, and Purewal was paid Rs 30 lakh. Police also said that Purewal’s daughter living in Canada has also complained against her mother of cheating many people.

BATHINDA: Faridkot police claimed to have unearthed a gang that lured and duped youngsters aspiring to settle abroad. These youngsters were supposedly married off to women who claim themselves to be “NRIs” using fake passports, visas and citizenship certificates.The leader of the gang, a woman identified as Narinder Purewal of Jalandhar , has been arrested whereas three members of the gang, including two women, are at large. The police claim that the gang members cheated at least four families by demanding big sums of money for marrying loot and scoot brides.The other members of the gang have been identified as Manpreet Kaur Dhaliwal, Simran Kaur Saini and Parampal Singh. The gang members fraudulently prepared fake passports, visas and fake certificates to show the women as residents of various countries.On Saturday, Faridkot senior superintendent of police (SSP), Raj Bachan Singh Sandhu, said that Sardul Singh, a resident of village Golewala in Faridkot had complained to the police that Narinder Purewal had cheated him. When superintendent of police (SP) Gurmeet Kaur had investigated his complaint, it was found out that Purewal had introduced one Manpreet Kaur Dhaliwal and Parveen Kaur as her close relatives settled in Canada. Eventually, Parveen Kaur was married to Sardul Singh’s son Parwinder Singh on January 29, 2017, at Faridkot, and Purewal was paid Rs 30 lakh. Parveen Kaur lived for three months at village Golewala before “returning” to Canada to get documents and take Parwinder Singh to Canada. She never returned. The police found out that Parveen Kaur was not a Canadian citizen at all.Another complaint was filed by Gurcharan Singh of village Dabrikhana in Faridkot, which too was investigated by SP Gurmeet Kaur. This time round, Purewal introduced to the complainant Simran Kaur Saini alias Rubina Sharma of Jalandhar, claiming she is a Canadian citizen and married her off to Gurcharan’ son Sukhbir Singh in May 2018. After two months of marriage, Rubina and Sukhbir had gone to Amritsar international airport to meet Purewal, who had supposedly organised for them to fly to Canada. At the airport, Purewal sent back Sukhbir claiming some documents have not reached and took Rubina along and vanished.Cases under sections 420 (cheating), 465 (forgery), 467 (forgery of valuable security), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) and 471 (using as genuine a forged document) of IPC have been registered on Friday against Narindrer Purewal, Parveen, Rubina and accomplice Parampal Singh in both the incidents of fraud, said SSP, adding that the police have dug out two more cases where Purewal had duped in similar manner. Police also said that Purewal’s daughter living in Canada has also complained against her mother of cheating many people.
