'SAD-BJP delayed medical college'

BATHINDA: Punjab health minister Brahm Mohindra, who has been acccused of delaying the AIIMS project in Bathinda by Union minister and SAD MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal , on Friday claimed that the previous SAD-BJP government in the state delayed the setting up of a medical college in Mohali so that it could benefit private medical colleges in the state.He said the medical college was allotted to Punjab in 2014, during the previous SAD-BJP government's rule, but it was the present Congress government which made efforts for setting up the college. Talking to media here on Friday, Mohindra said, "When the medical college was allotted to Punjab in 2014, it was to be constructed for Rs 189 crore with the money being spent in the ratio of 75:25 between the Centre and the Punjab government. But, the then government kept on sitting on the proposal." In all, 85% seats were reserved for Punjab students.
