Restoration of Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s palace has been going on since 2007Neeraj BaggaTribune News ServiceAmritsar, June 11The summer palace of legendary Sikh King Maharaja Ranjit Singh has been out of bound for tourists for years owing to its prolong conservation work. Started in 2007, the conservation work is expected to go on for another six months to an year. Lakshman, supervisor of a Mumbai-based private concern, stated that work on the outer walls of the summer palace was under way. Under the third phase, expert consultants will consult historical accounts to produce the similar furniture which were there during the time of the Maharaja in the summer palace. People associated with tourism, tour and travel industries are keenly awaiting the re-opening of the summer palace.
