9-yr-old among three killed in road mishap

Tribune News ServiceAmritsar, June 13Three persons, including a nine-year-old boy, died in a road mishap near Sohian Khurd village, falling under Kamboh police station, here on Wednesday night. The victims were ran over by a speeding bus. Those killed have been identified as Sukhwinder Kaur (49), Akashdeep Singh (17) and Jugraj Singh (9). The injured include Mehtab Singh (28) of Guru Nanak Nagar, Sohian Khurd village, his wife Mandeep Kaur (22) and their daughter Navneet Kaur (5). Nanak Singh, investigating officer, said the accused bus driver was yet to be identified.

The victims were ran over by a speeding bus. The mishap left three others injured. Those killed have been identified as Sukhwinder Kaur (49), Akashdeep Singh (17) and Jugraj Singh (9). The injured include Mehtab Singh (28) of Guru Nanak Nagar, Sohian Khurd village, his wife Mandeep Kaur (22) and their daughter Navneet Kaur (5). They were admitted to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital. Mehtab Singh informed the police that at around 12.30 am he, along with his wife Mandeep Kaur and daughter Navneet Kaur, went to Sohian Khurd bus stop to receive his mother-in-law Sukhinder Kaur and others who had arrived in an auto-rickshaw. He said they were about to return after loading their belongings on the bike when a speeding bus ran over Sukhwinder, Akashdeep and Jugraj who died on the spot. Others were also hit and they sustained severe injuries. The bus driver sped away. The complainant couldn’t read the bus registration number as it was dark. Nanak Singh, investigating officer, said the accused bus driver was yet to be identified.
