Two minor girls of orphanage molested, one arrested

Tribune News ServiceAmritsar, June 17In a shocking incident, two minor orphaned girls, living in an orphanage and destitute centre of a charitable trust, was allegedly molested by a man, identified as Narinder Singh. The accused is husband of a woman sewadar of the Trust. He was arrested by the police following a complaint lodged by a social worker who came to know about the incident when she, along with her team, visited the centre. The incident came to light when a social worker went the Trust to distribute eatables among the destitute and orphaned children. A woman sewadar revealed about the incident following which the social worker asked the victims who narrated the entire incident.

Amritsar, June 17 In a shocking incident, two minor orphaned girls, living in an orphanage and destitute centre of a charitable trust, was allegedly molested by a man, identified as Narinder Singh. The accused is husband of a woman sewadar of the Trust. He was arrested by the police following a complaint lodged by a social worker who came to know about the incident when she, along with her team, visited the centre. Narinder Singh was produced in the court and sent to judicial remand on Monday. A case under Sections 354-A (sexual harassment) and 354-B (assault or use of criminal force to woman with an intent to disrobe) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been registered against him at Mohkampura police station here. The girls, aged 12 and 14, informed the social worker that the accused, who used to come to the centre to drop his wife, had harassed them. The incident came to light when a social worker went the Trust to distribute eatables among the destitute and orphaned children. She told that she used to visit there every Sunday. On Sunday, when she reached there, she found two girls in shock. A woman sewadar revealed about the incident following which the social worker asked the victims who narrated the entire incident. The police said the case was registered on the statement of the victims. Their medical examination was also conducted on Sunday.
