Student Police Cadet training programme in district soon

Tribune News ServiceAmritsar, June 18On the lines of the National Cadet Corps, the police and the education department are all set to introduce Student Police Cadet (SPC) in schools across the district. Under the project, any student studying in Class VIII-IX can get himself or herself enrolled as Student Police Cadet. To begin with, 30 schools, including 15 from rural areas, will run the cadet programme. Jasbir Singh, district nodal officer, Student Police Cadet project, said, “The SPC will be implemented in government schools. Grants will come for proper execution of the cadet programme.”Both boys and girls studying in Classes VIII and IX are eligible to pursue the cadet programme.

Amritsar, June 18 On the lines of the National Cadet Corps, the police and the education department are all set to introduce Student Police Cadet (SPC) in schools across the district. Under the project, any student studying in Class VIII-IX can get himself or herself enrolled as Student Police Cadet. The cadet will be acquainted with the duties and responsibilities of a cop. They will be given proper training and uniform. These young minds will be informed about the working of police stations, traffic management and social issues, such as women rights, child security among others. The programme will be started in all government schools in the district once the schools re-open after vacations. It was commenced in a local government senior secondary school during summer camp, recently. To begin with, 30 schools, including 15 from rural areas, will run the cadet programme. Students will also be given PT training, parade besides others. The authorities of both education and police will work jointly. Jasbir Singh, district nodal officer, Student Police Cadet project, said, “The SPC will be implemented in government schools. It will be a separate wing. Students will be given certificates.” Inspector Paramjeet Singh, traffic and education officer, said, “A teacher will be appointed as an officer to look into the activities of the SPC. It is a project of the Central Government. Grants will come for proper execution of the cadet programme.” Both boys and girls studying in Classes VIII and IX are eligible to pursue the cadet programme.
