Neha Saini Amritsar, June 25 Hargun Kaur’s success on the reality show ‘The Voice’ is no secret. The young singing sensation from Amritsar managed to impress a list of Bollywood celebrities, including her idols, legendary singer Asha Bhonsle and composer AR Rahman. Life’s good for the 22-year-old, but the biggest take away from her stint on ‘The Voice’ was meeting her childhood inspiration Asha Bhonsle as Hargun confesses. “To receive Rs 101 from Asha Bhonsle on stage as a reward for my singing was the biggest moment of my life. I had never felt so overwhelmed and it was probably the most memorable moment on show,” she said. Hargun was in the city to perform at IAFA’s special musical evening dedicated to The World Music Day. She was honoured by members of the Indian Academy of Fine Arts (IAFA) for her achievement as a singer. “Amritsar will always remain at the core of my heart. To perform in front your home audience with lots of cheering gives immense pleasure,” she said. Hargun has also participated in Voice of Punjab and India’s Got Talent reality shows. “For me, the biggest change after my participation was not the fame that follows but the journey itself. The learning experience you get while on the show is something one cannot otherwise get without a sound struggle.” Post the show, she is already working as playback singer for the Marathi film industry and busy with live shows. “I am looking forward to becoming a consistent YouTuber with my series that will work as a tutorial for budding singers. I plan to work as an independent musician as well and I believe that digital medium gets you connected to the audience directly.” Recently, a song written by Hargun and performed by Sukhwinder Singh and Sonu Nigam has been released. “It’s called Dance Dance and is featured in an Indo-Iranian film starring Jackie Shroff,” she added.
