Amritsar, July 16 City residents enjoyed pleasant weather thanks to a brief spell of downpour in the morning. Sporadic drizzling throughout the day kept the temperature down considerably. Since July 11, showers, barring Monday, have been lashing the city. It has provided relief to people, flora and fauna from the scorching heat. Officials of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) said the power demand had also gone down, offering respite to the transmission infrastructure and other related paraphernalia. Rashmi Mehra, a housewife, said, air conditioners are either not required or needed for a brief period. She said pleasant weather offered a good outing opportunity to families. Balwinder Singh, a farmer from Lopoke village, said, erratic drizzling in the day was extremely favourable for paddy. It will help in increasing yield of the crop. He added that drizzle was also helpful in recharging the water table.
