Youth held for murder bid

Amritsar, July 19A youth has been arrested for allegedly trying to run his car over cops at a checkpoint. He has been charged with attempt to murder. Identified as Gurpreet Singh Gopi, he was travelling in a car when he was signalled to stop by cops at a checkpoint in Islamabad on Thursday evening. Instead of stopping, he tried to speed away and the cops had to jump aside to save themselves. Sections 307, 279 and 427 of the IPC have been slapped.
