Kids facing adversities to be identified

Amritsar, July 23Health officials conducted a meeting of officials to identify the children living in unfavorable conditions so that they could be provided help under tje child protection programme. The meeting was attended by child protection programme officers, ayurvedic medical officers and Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram teams. Speaking on the occasion, the district immunisation officer said the Women and Child Development Department was running a scheme for the protection of children living in unfavorable conditions. He said the report would be given to the child protection unit which would look into each case and take action accordingly. Child Protection Officer Ritu Bhagat said even residents could report about children living in unfavorable conditions so that they could be taken care of.

He said the ASHA workers would visit each house in their respective areas to indentify children living in unfavorable conditions, which include extreme poverty, death of both parents, having no one to provide care, suffering from chronic diseases, victims of sexual abuse and domestic violence. He said the report would be given to the child protection unit which would look into each case and take action accordingly. Child Protection Officer Ritu Bhagat said even residents could report about children living in unfavorable conditions so that they could be taken care of. She also stressed the need for coordination among teams of different departments for completing the task at the earliest. — TNS
