‘Library langar’ at govt schools

The school teachers will be informing students about importance of books, habit of reading starting from July 15 to August 15, ‘library langar’ will be held in the school campus or library. Deputy DEO Harbhagwant Singh said, “The aim of holding a ‘library langar’ is to take books lying of shelves for quite some time.”A student is free to read book of his choice, even the kids have been allowed two periods for a library visit, he added. Officials of the district education department have been visiting school, meeting students and motivating them to read books. “In many schools, the students themselves have developed habit of pursuing reading on regular basis.

Reading will enhance their knowledge, help in development child’s vision,” he said. The librarians have been alerted to make sure that all books are made available to students. Officials of the district education department have been visiting school, meeting students and motivating them to read books. “In many schools, the students themselves have developed habit of pursuing reading on regular basis. The kids are excited about entire plan,” added DEO Salwinder Singh Samra.
