Devotees eager to participate in Nankana Sahib nagar kirtan

Tribune News ServiceAmritsar, July 29Ahead of the ‘nagar kirtan’ dedicated to the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, the devotees, who will accompany the ‘jatha’, submitted their documents to SGPC officials on Monday. The Pakistan embassy has granted visa to 504 devotees who will cross the Attari-Wagah border on Tuesday to take part in the ‘nagar kirtan’ that would start from Gurdwara Nankana Sahib in Pakistan on August 1. “I find myself fortunate to get an opportunity to visit the holy shrine for the first time and be part of the historic nagar kirtan,” he said. “In our daily ardas (prayers), we urge the Almighty to shower us with blessings that at least once in our lifetime we visit the pious shrine. From here, Akal Takht Acting Jathedar, Takht Kesgarh Sahib Jathedar, Golden Temple’s head priest and heads of the SGPC, the DSGMC and the managing committees of Patna Sahib and Hazoor Sahib, CKD president, Damdami Taksal head and other prominent personalities are expected to accompany the jatha.
