BOI takes fresh guard in national priorities

The consultation involved officials from all branches within the zone’s jurisdiction. In a first of its kind consultation, the branches were themselves engaged in self-assessment and deliberated on issues and evolved ideas on future strategy. Sarat Kumar Mishra, General Manager from bank’s head office, was also present in the two-day meet and oversaw conduct of the conclave. “The meet focused on ways and means to increase credit to various sectors of the economy with greater IT content, to bring about innovation and leverage big data analytics.

The idea is to make banking citizen-centric as well as more responsive to the needs and aspiration of senior citizens, farmers, small industrialists, entrepreneurs, youth, students and women,” said Mishra. “Several themes such as digital payments, corporate governance in Public Sector Banks (PSBs), credit for MSMEs, retail, agriculture, export credit and establishing financial grid were discussed at the meet with a view to chart out a specific roadmap for PSBs,” said Manwinder Singh, a bank official.
