IIM organises marathon

As many as 200 students participated in the marathon flagged off by IIM director Ramamoorty at 5.30 am. CAMPUS NOTES Amritsar: IIM Amritsar has organised its flagship marathon event “Runbhoomi 3” at Rose Garden. The marathon heralded the 73rd Independence Day of the country. Students as well as members of the local community joined hands together and ran for the noble cause of ‘spreading awareness about the go green initiative’. As many as 200 students participated in the marathon flagged off by IIM director Ramamoorty at 5.30 am. TNS NCC Cadets’ parade Amritsar: NCC cadets, Amritsar group, took part in the district-level function organised to mark the Independence Day celebrations. The cadets saluted the National Flag. Cabinet Minister Sukhwinder Singh Randhawa presided over as the chief guest. TNS Amritsar: Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) has received grants of Rs 160 crore from the Central government. In addition to this, the grants of Rs 482 crore from the Union government and Rs 39 crore from the state government are also in the pipeline as Vice-Chancellor Jaspal Singh Sandhu has completed two years in office. For attracting foreign students, the university has started several new courses. The university has formed students’ activity clubs, gymnasium and psychological counselling center etc. for students’ physical and mental well-being over the period of two years. The GNDU has also been recognised for its efforts in reducing carbon footprint and maintaining cleanliness by being ranked 2nd among the cleanest higher educational institutions in the country in the category of government universities by the MHRD. Installation of rooftop solar energy plant, use of e-rickshaws, massive tree plantation programmes and being a zero discharge campus are some of the efforts in this direction. TNS
