Though the Punjab government had banned the telecast of the serial, the community members held demonstrations at different parts of the city to lodge their protest. DC Shiv Dullar Singh Dhillon in a late evening ordered banning airing of the serial in order to pacify the community members so that no untoward incident occurs. Young community members were seen zooming on bikes and getting the shops shut down in the city. They raised slogans against the tele serial producer and director.

Amritsar, September 7 The police remained on their toes to maintain law and order in the city on Saturday. Though the Punjab government had banned the telecast of the serial, the community members held demonstrations at different parts of the city to lodge their protest. Demanding registration of case against the actors, director and producer of the tele serial ‘Ram Siya Ke Luv Kush’, they had been agitating for allegedly distorting facts and tarnishing the image of Bhagwan Valmiki. DC Shiv Dullar Singh Dhillon in a late evening ordered banning airing of the serial in order to pacify the community members so that no untoward incident occurs. Heavy police force remained present at various chowks and roads. Young community members were seen zooming on bikes and getting the shops shut down in the city. Only a few shops were opened in the morning but later on they also shut their premises. They raised slogans against the tele serial producer and director. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, JS Walia, said though the situation remained a little tense at some places, but it was very much under control. The leaders of the community were urged to carry peaceful protest and they were convinced that the serial would not be showcased on cable TV.
