Amritsar, September 10 A 22-year-old youth was nabbed on the charge of attempt to rape a three-and-a-half-year -old girl at Mehta here on Monday. The accused has been identified as Rajinder Singh of Mehta. Father of the victim in his complaint to the Mehta police said that his three-and-a-half-year-old daughter was playing in a street. The accused, who resides in a nearby house, took her inside his house. When family members noticed that the girl was missing from the street they immediately initiated the search. Father of the victim girl said he heard her cry and went inside the room. The complainant rescued the girl and nabbed the accused. On getting information, the police reached the spot and arrested the accused. A case under Section 363 of the IPC and 7,8 of the POCSO Act has been registered against the accused. Uncle of the victim girl stated that the accused was a pervert.
