SGPC seeks police help over video

A video went viral in which Sikh ethics and principles were challenged by some miscreants, who projected idol worshipping in an obnoxious manner. An image of Golden Temple, along with Sikh religious symbols, was also visible. SGPC chief Gobind Singh Longowal has appealed the government to make a law to check such actions and book culprits. Amritsar (rural) SSP Vikram Jeet Duggal warned manufacturers and stockists of firecrackers to restrain from the illegal act.

TNS Police warn cracker stockists Amritsar: To avoid any repeat of Batala-like incident, the Amritsar police on Wednesday appealed people to inform about any illegal manufacturer, stockist or a seller operating in their areas. Amritsar (rural) SSP Vikram Jeet Duggal warned manufacturers and stockists of firecrackers to restrain from the illegal act. In view of the Diwali festival, people indulge in illegal storing and manufacturing of crackers. The SSP said if anyone was found involved in the selling or storing of crackers in an illegal manner, they would be taken to task.TNS Amritsar: Dedicated to Sai Mian Mir, who laid the foundation stone of Golden Temple, a mela will be organised at Peer Baba Burj Shah at Manawala village, 10 km from here, on Thursday. Sudesh Sharma, caretaker of the dargah, said, the fair is held every year at the shrine. It was decided to dedicate the fair to Sai Mian Mir this time. The fair is very popular among city natives and surrounding villages, who arrive in large numbers to attend it. TNS Tarn Taran: A gang of five armed robbers took away a car (PB-05-AK-3506) at gun point from a couple near Sheron village on Tuesday. Victim Raj Kumar said he along with his wife was going back home after taking medicines from Amritsar. "When we reached near Sheron village, five robbers in a black coloured car stopped their vehicle in front of my car and took away my vehicle at gun point," Raj Kumar added. The Sarhali police have registered a case under Section 379-B of the IPC. OC
