SGPC hails pruning of blacklist

Tribune News ServiceAmritsar, September 13Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Gobind Singh Longowal has welcomed the removal of names of 312 Sikhs from the Union Government’s blacklist. Thanking the Prime Minister, he said the move of Narendra Modi-led Central Government was commendable and there was a wave of happiness in the Sikh community over it. He said the Shiromani Committee had been seeking abrogation of the blacklist for long. He hoped that this would pave way for such Sikhs, residing abroad, to visit their ancestral places and meet families. Appreciating the noble gesture, he said, “They will pay obeisance at the Golden Temple, which has been their long cherished desire.” The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee chief asked the Centre to take up with its Pakistani counterpart the issue of USD 20 fee that each pilgrim would have to pay for visiting teh historic Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib.
