Rajasthan displays tourism power at travel expo

Amritsar, September 14Rajasthan Tourism today conducted a special show during the ongoing three-day travel expo — India Travel Mart (ITM). Rajasthan, being the largest state of the country geographically, presents rich repository of living traditions and art forms. “Rajasthan received 52 million tourists last year, including 1.75 million from abroad. Tourism trade build up aprox 14% of the state’s GDP ,” said the spokesperson of the Rajasthan Tourism Board. Places of religious interest like Dargha Sharif (Ajmer), Shri NathTemple (Nathdwara), Shri Ekling Temple (Udaipur), Brahma Temple at Holy Pushkar, Jain Temples (Ranakpur) were also highlighted.

The show higlighted the treasure trove of handcrafted souvenirs, gems and jewellery and the status of being recognised as a global wedding destination, especially after the wedding of Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas. “Rajasthan received 52 million tourists last year, including 1.75 million from abroad. Tourism trade build up aprox 14% of the state’s GDP ,” said the spokesperson of the Rajasthan Tourism Board. Rajasthan is well connected with Punjab via road, rail and flight. The showcase gave a brief overview of the main places of tourist interest including Jaipur, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Jaislamer, Ranthambore, Bharatpur and more. Places of religious interest like Dargha Sharif (Ajmer), Shri NathTemple (Nathdwara), Shri Ekling Temple (Udaipur), Brahma Temple at Holy Pushkar, Jain Temples (Ranakpur) were also highlighted. More than 70 % of heritage hotels of the country are located in Rajasthan. —TNS
