Councillors to aware people on nutrition

Tribune News ServiceAmritsar, September 14The Health Department has roped in councillors of the Municipal Corporation to reach out to city residents to create awareness on nutritious food and cleanliness under the Poshan Abhiyaan. Many councillors from the area, including Arun Pappal, Paramjit Chopra, Mahesh Khanna and Lakhwinder Singh, were also present. Soni said all councillors were ready to help the department with the programme under which malnutrition of women and children would be discussed. He said they would create awareness among residents of their respective wards and help them get benefit of all health-related government schemes. Meena Devi, Child Development and Project Officer, said children were being provided nutritious foods at all aganwadi centres to tackle malnutrition.

Amritsar, September 14 The Health Department has roped in councillors of the Municipal Corporation to reach out to city residents to create awareness on nutritious food and cleanliness under the Poshan Abhiyaan. The department organised an event in Central assembly constituency, which was presided by MC Councillor Vikas Soni. Many councillors from the area, including Arun Pappal, Paramjit Chopra, Mahesh Khanna and Lakhwinder Singh, were also present. Soni said all councillors were ready to help the department with the programme under which malnutrition of women and children would be discussed. He said they would create awareness among residents of their respective wards and help them get benefit of all health-related government schemes. Meena Devi, Child Development and Project Officer, said children were being provided nutritious foods at all aganwadi centres to tackle malnutrition. She said adolescent girls were also being educated about the problem of anaemia and ways to overcome it.
