DAV observes World Ozone Day

SCHOOL NOTESAmritsar: The students of DAV Public School conducted a special assembly on World Ozone Day. This day was selected by the United Nations General Assembly as the international day for the preservation of the ozone layer. They emphasised that without ozone layer, life on earth would cease to exist. Randip Singh and Raminder Kaur, school member in-charges, welcomed the chief guest Nirmal Singh president, Chief Khalsa Diwan Charitable Society. President Nirmal Singh addressed the gathering by showering his blessings and encouraged the young minds with his pearls of wisdom.

The students of the school spoke about the importance of the ozone layer and the need to protect this fragile shield of gas which protects the earth from the harmful ultraviolet radiations. They emphasised that without ozone layer, life on earth would cease to exist. They sang songs, recited poems and enacted a role play on the same theme. Students pledged that they would respect their natural inheritance. Regional Officer Punjab Zone Dr Neelam Kamra and the manager of the school Dr Rajesh Kumar sent their best wishes to students. CISCE National Tourney concludes The CISCE National Chess Tournament-2019 culminated with the exhilarating closing ceremony Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School, Basant Avenue. Around 70 teams from 11 regions participated in the event and showed their tricks in the battle of brains, ie, chess. Randip Singh and Raminder Kaur, school member in-charges, welcomed the chief guest Nirmal Singh president, Chief Khalsa Diwan Charitable Society. President Nirmal Singh addressed the gathering by showering his blessings and encouraged the young minds with his pearls of wisdom. He also advised the players to imbibe the 3Ds, ie, discipline, dedication and determination to reach the pinnacle of success. Principal Nirmal Kaur proposed a vote of thanks. A district-level quiz competition will be on October 10 at Guru Nanak Girls Senior Secondary School, Ghee Mandi. These quizzes are being held under the directorate Language Department. Speaking about the quizzes, Dr Bhupinder Singh, district language officer, said, “The entries can be sent district language office till September 23. The competition will be held in three categories.” TNS
