Amritsar, September 20The Fruit and Vegetable Merchants Association has demanded to waive off 2 per cent market fee and equal quantum of the Rural Development Fund (RDF). Its members maintained that these taxes were the main reasons behind low crop rate. Punjab farmers have to throw vegetables on roads due to the same. When the same crops arrive from Himachal, Haryana, Rajasthan and Maharashtra, its rate increases from Rs 40 to Rs 100. This was demanded in a meeting of the association held under its president Tejinder Singh Kamboj.— TNS
