Police nab 300 history-sheeters to curb drugs

Amritsar, September 21In an effort to curtail drug trafficking in the rural belt, the rural police have bound down 300 history-sheeters in the past five months. Amritsar (rural) SSP Vikram Jeet Duggal said: “The step has been taken to create a deterrence effect.”“They were produced before the Executive Magistrate, where surety bonds ranging from Rs1 lakh to Rs5 lakhs were paid by these history-sheeters and in case they were found involved in any criminal activity, including drug peddling, these bonds were forfeited,” said the SSP. The SSP informed that five anti-narco raiding teams formed by the rural police had been working round the clock to conduct intelligence-based anti-narco raids.
