Amphitheatre comes up at Guru Nanak university

Tribune News ServiceAmritsar, October 22An amphitheatre named Golden Expressions has come up at Guru Nanak Dev University here. The theatre in a semicircular of 50 ft has a seating capacity of 200 students at the prime location near the fountain at the university. Prof Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice- Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University, said, “It has been constructed with the objective of providing a platform to all students to express themselves without any formality within the limits of decency.”“The university is committed to the overall development of students and their personality. There is huge talent among our youth and the main objective of this amphitheatre is to provide them initial platform to explore their hidden talent and publically express them. Every Wednesday, a special programme ‘Mehfil’ is organised by the students of various departments of the university.

The theatre in a semicircular of 50 ft has a seating capacity of 200 students at the prime location near the fountain at the university. Prof Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice- Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University, said, “It has been constructed with the objective of providing a platform to all students to express themselves without any formality within the limits of decency.” “The university is committed to the overall development of students and their personality. For this purpose, the university has already provided state-of-the-art infrastructure for their convenience,” he added. He said, “There are so many students which are not much privileged to get opportunity to perform on big stage and in youth festivals. There is huge talent among our youth and the main objective of this amphitheatre is to provide them initial platform to explore their hidden talent and publically express them. This will also help them to utilise their energy for constructive purposes instead of wasting their time on mobile phones and involving themselves in destructive activities, including drug-abuse.” An amphitheatre is an open-air venue used for entertainment, performances, and sports. Every Wednesday, a special programme ‘Mehfil’ is organised by the students of various departments of the university. The progamme starts around 3 pm and concludes sometimes around 9 pm as the items presented by the students are so interesting that they bound students till end.
