Patients expect GND Hospital upgrade amid Gurpurb buzz

Most of the window glasses at the hospital are seen broken almost every winter due to which patients have to suffer. In winters, patients can be seen using newspapers, cardboards or sheets to cover the broken portion of the glasses to save themselves from the chill. For the past many years, it has been seen that window glasses were not replaced and patients were forced to have their own makeshift arrangements. “So far the weather is good, but in the months of December and January, the patients in different wards face a hard time. “The hospital is committed to providing better services to patients and this being a special year, renovation and repair works being carried out at full throttle,” he added.

Hospital’s window glasses remain broken almost every year Manmeet Singh Gill Amritsar, October 31 At a time when the entire nation is abuzz with preparations to mark the 550th birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Nanak, patients at Guru Nanak Dev Hospital (GNDH), which is associated with the Government Medical College, hope that the hospital’s infrastructure, too, will be taken care of as it is named after the first Sikh Guru. Most of the window glasses at the hospital are seen broken almost every winter due to which patients have to suffer. In winters, patients can be seen using newspapers, cardboards or sheets to cover the broken portion of the glasses to save themselves from the chill. “We have heard regarding announcements that this being the anniversary year, the government has special plans to upgrade the infrastructure and facilities at the hospital, which is named after the first Sikh Guru,” said a patient, Harnek Singh, adding that he hoped patients would have a comfortable stay here this winter. For the past many years, it has been seen that window glasses were not replaced and patients were forced to have their own makeshift arrangements. “So far the weather is good, but in the months of December and January, the patients in different wards face a hard time. The authorities concerned must take a note of the issue,” said another patient, Satnam Singh. An official at the hospital, wishing not to be named, said the renovation work had been going on and the broken glass windows would be replaced. “The hospital is committed to providing better services to patients and this being a special year, renovation and repair works being carried out at full throttle,” he added.
