Vigilance Awareness Week held

Amritsar, November 1The Punjab Police organised a district-level programme to mark Vigilance Awareness Week at Guru Nanak Stadium here on Friday. Deputy Commissioner Shiv Dullar Singh Dhillon presided over the event while Police Commissioner Sukhchain Singh Gill and SSP Vigilance Parampal Singh were also present on the occasion. He said, “It is duty of government employees to work in the welfare of society and not to create unnecessary hurdles. He said they could dial at toll free number 180018001000 for providing any information against corrupt officials. The Police Commissioner said people should also change their habits and discourage corruption.

While addressing school students and participants, the DC said, “ We can root out corruption if once we decide not to be part of it.” “If we give bribes to government employees for any kind of work we become a part of the corrupt system,” he pointed out. He said, “It is duty of government employees to work in the welfare of society and not to create unnecessary hurdles. The government efforts in eradicating the menace from the society by enacting and implementing stringent laws will succeed once we stand against the corrupt system and refuse to give or take bribes.” SSP Parampal Singh said people can play a pivotal role in curbing corruption. He said they could dial at toll free number 180018001000 for providing any information against corrupt officials. The Police Commissioner said people should also change their habits and discourage corruption. —TNS
