CCII installs one lakh UID plates

MC officials said the CCII had sped up the work of installation of UID plates and would complete their task soon. MC Joint Commissioner Nitish Singla said, “The CCII is installing UID plates on properties. With the failure of the high security registration plates on vehicles, residents are skeptical about the success of the CCII’s drive. Davinder Singh, a city resident, said, “Earlier, the government had made high security registration plates mandatory for the vehicles.

Amritsar, November 1 The Central Commercial Industry of India (CCII) has installed unique identification (UID) plates at around one lakh properties in the city. The CCII is working in collaboration of the Municipal Corporation. Earlier, MapmyIndia had conducted a survey and identified 2.50 lakh properties in the city. MC officials said the CCII had sped up the work of installation of UID plates and would complete their task soon. MC Joint Commissioner Nitish Singla said, “The CCII is installing UID plates on properties. All the properties will be linked with our system and we will get the details of every property just at a click. We are hopeful that the CCII will complete its job soon.” The CCII and the MC have been chagrining Rs 30 from residents for every UID plate. According to MC officials, the UID is mandatory for every household. With the failure of the high security registration plates on vehicles, residents are skeptical about the success of the CCII’s drive. Davinder Singh, a city resident, said, “Earlier, the government had made high security registration plates mandatory for the vehicles. We spent hundreds of rupees on the same but the efforts went futile as the government withdrew the project.”
