Residents and office-bearers of the Sangarsh Committee are disappointed over the non-shifting of the dump despite assurances by political leaders of the state government. The garbage dump, which is in close vicinity of the Darbar Sahib, poses several health hazards for residents. Sanjay Sharma, activist of the Sangarsh Committee, said, “During the SAD-BJP regime, Congress leaders visited our dharna site and assured the shifting of the dump. Now, they have lame excuses that they are not getting land to shift dump.”Davinder Singh, a resident of Bhagtanwala, said, “We have been given assurances for long. Our children suffer from health issues.”Meanwhile, the Municipal Corporation has failed to conduct the garbage processing work at Bhagtanwala dump.
