Woman accuses in-laws of sexual, mental harassment

She even attempted suicide by consuming sleeping pills and is currently admitted to a private hospital for treatment. She alleged that after few days of the marriage, her in-laws started harassing her for bringing insufficient dowry, though her family had given more than they could afford. She alleged that her in-laws started giving her sleeping pills and tried to declare her mentally ill. Perturbed over the continuous sexual and mental harassment, she decided to end her life and consumed excessive sleeping pills on November 5, she alleged. On her statement, the police have registered a case for subjecting a married woman to cruelty, criminal breach of trust and sexual harassment against her in-laws, including her husband.

Amritsar, November 8 A woman has accused her husband and in-laws of sexual and mental harassment. She even attempted suicide by consuming sleeping pills and is currently admitted to a private hospital for treatment. The victim has also urged the Commissioner of Police, Dr Sukhchain Singh Gill, to provide her justice. She said she had a love marriage around four years ago. She alleged that after few days of the marriage, her in-laws started harassing her for bringing insufficient dowry, though her family had given more than they could afford. She gave birth to a boy in after one and half year of the marriage. But the harassment did not end, she said. She alleged that her in-laws started giving her sleeping pills and tried to declare her mentally ill. Perturbed over the continuous sexual and mental harassment, she decided to end her life and consumed excessive sleeping pills on November 5, she alleged. On her statement, the police have registered a case for subjecting a married woman to cruelty, criminal breach of trust and sexual harassment against her in-laws, including her husband. Investigating officer Parminder Kaur confirmed the registration of a case and said raids were on to nab the suspects.
