GNDU security guard dies in accident

Tribune News ServiceAmritsar, November 12A security guard at the Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) heading towards the campus for his night shift died in a road accident at Ajnala Road here, yesterday. The deceased has been identified as Joginder Singh (64), a resident of Mahal village. Jaspal Singh, son of the victim, in his complaint at the Cantonment police station, said his father worked as a security guard at GNDU. When he reached on the back gate of the university campus, a rashly driven motorcycle hit his father’s scooter. Joginder Singh got seriously injured in the accident.

Amritsar, November 12 A security guard at the Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) heading towards the campus for his night shift died in a road accident at Ajnala Road here, yesterday. The deceased has been identified as Joginder Singh (64), a resident of Mahal village. Jaspal Singh, son of the victim, in his complaint at the Cantonment police station, said his father worked as a security guard at GNDU. He was going to the university on his scooter. When he reached on the back gate of the university campus, a rashly driven motorcycle hit his father’s scooter. The complainant stated that the accused also did not blow horn. Joginder Singh got seriously injured in the accident. He was rushed to a local Amandeep Hospital, where he was declared brought dead. The motorcycle driver has been identified as Raman Sharma, a resident of Mahal. Assistant Sub-Inspector Arjun Singh, Investigating Officer, said, “As per the preliminary investigation, “When Joginder Singh turned towards the university campus, the motorist hit him. He got seriously injured in chest and died.” The Investigating Officer also said, “We have registered a case of negligence while driving against the accused. We even raided the house of the accused but he is still absconding. Further investigations in this regard are underway.”
