Tirade against smugglers on

Tarn Taran: The district police have frozen property worth Rs 1.41 crore of two more smugglers on Wednesday. With this, the total value of property freezed by the police has risen to Rs 5.5 crore. Properties of 13 infamous smugglers have been attached in the last ten days. The district police have received orders of the Competent Authority, SAFEM (FOP) Act and the NDPS Act for freezing assets of the drug peddlers. Dr Sujata Sharma, college principal, and Dr Gurpreet Kaur Randhawa, Head of the Department of Pharmacology, welcomed all dignitaries and alumni members.

SSP Dhruv Dahiya said on Wednesday that property worth Rs 78 lakh of Lakhbir Singh of Daudpur has been attached and moveable and immovable assets worth Rs 63 lakh owned by Gurdev Singh of Amarkot village has also been frozen, said SSP. The district police have received orders of the Competent Authority, SAFEM (FOP) Act and the NDPS Act for freezing assets of the drug peddlers. More cases of property attachment would follow, said the SSP. oc Two booked on rape charge Tarn Taran: Two residents of Sursing village have been booked under Sections 376D, 452 and 506 of the IPC and Section 3 of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act for raping a married woman of the same village. The accused have been identified as Arashdeep Singh and Yudhbir Singh. The victim alleged that she was sleeping with her kids in the early morning and other members of the family had gone to the village gurdwara. The suspects trespassed her house. They threatened her and Arashdeep Singh raped her. OC Alumni meet of pharmacologists Amritsar: The Department of Pharmacology at Government Medical College here organised its first alumni meet of pharmacologists on Wednesday. Dr Sujata Sharma, college principal, and Dr Gurpreet Kaur Randhawa, Head of the Department of Pharmacology, welcomed all dignitaries and alumni members. The event was attended by around 40 former students, who are presently working at various medical colleges in the country and in the pharmaceutical industry. TNS
