Drug peddler among 3 held in different cases

Amritsar, December 6 The local police have nabbed Gaurav Thakur, a resident of Kapurthakla, for allegedly possessing 260 gm of heroin worth Rs 1.3 crore in the international market. He was intercepted by the traffic police near bus stand here. The police also arrested two snatchers, identified as Parash from Mustafabad and Ishu of Fateh Singh Colony. It confiscated two mobile phones and a stolen motorcycle from their possession. According to the police they had snatched a mobile from Lovepreet Singh of Thathi Jaimal Singh in Tarn Taran on Monday. They were nabbed by the police yesterday and their interrogation led the seizure of another snatched mobile. The snatchers were sent to police custody for further interrogation. Meanwhile, the Amritsar police have brought two notorious thieves on production warrant from the Ambala Central Jail. They were wanted in a burglary case occurred in New Golden Avenue on November 11. They were identified as Satwant Singh and Arjan Singh, both residents of Indore, Madhya Pradesh. ADCP Harpal Singh, in a press conference here on Friday, said on November 13, they had entered into a house belonging of Dinesh Agarwal, a resident of New Golden Avenue area here and decamped with Rs 2.5 lakh and gold ornaments. Investigations revealed that the unknown persons had opened the locks of doors and almirah in order to gain entry. The family was out of station when the incident took place. After getting CCTV footage of the suspects, it was circulated in Punjab and adjoining states for identification, said the police authorities. The Panchkula police arrested them and later sent to Ambala jail. They were brought on production warrant from there and produced in the court here for police custody and further interrogation.
