Five cartridges seized at airport

Amritsar: Five live cartridges were seized from a passenger at Sri Guru Ram Das Jee International Airport here before he could board a plane for Mumbai on Tuesday. Officials of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) said Vikas was travelling to Mumbai by Air India flight number AI-650 and approached for pre-embarkation security check at X-Ray Baggage Inspection System. During physical check five live rounds of 7.65 KF revolver were seized. Vikas was offloaded and handed over to the airport police along with live ammunition for further verification and action. Meanwhile the police also arrested Bobby of Mullechak village and seized over 500 sedative pills from his possession.

The suspect has been identified as Vikas Kumar a resident of Ahun village in Kaithal district of Haryana. Officials of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) said Vikas was travelling to Mumbai by Air India flight number AI-650 and approached for pre-embarkation security check at X-Ray Baggage Inspection System. During screening CISF Sub-Inspector S Awungshi observed live ammunition image. He referred the hand bag for physical check. During physical check five live rounds of 7.65 KF revolver were seized. The passenger could not produce any valid document to carry the same with him. Vikas was offloaded and handed over to the airport police along with live ammunition for further verification and action. TNS Selling tobacco to minors unlawful Amritsar: The district Health Department has warned cigarette and tobacco product vendors that the sale of these products is prohibited within 100 yards of any educational institution besides the sale of tobacco products is prohibited to persons under the age of 18. Dr Sharanjit Kaur nodal officer for Tobacco Control Programme said: “Young children are impressionistic and the laws are aimed at saving them from the menace of tobacco usage”. She added that under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015 exposing a child to tobacco can carry up to seven years in prison. TNS One held with 370-gm heroin Amritsar: The city police have arrested Lovepreet Singh of Guru Nanak Colony here for allegedly possessing 370-gm heroin. He was arrested at a checkpoint. A case under Sections 21 (C) 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against him while further investigations to ascertain the source of contraband and his backward and forward links are underway. Meanwhile the police also arrested Bobby of Mullechak village and seized over 500 sedative pills from his possession. TNS
