Rs 610 crore paid to farmers

They said more than Rs 610 crore has been disbursed to farmers and remaing payments would be done in time. The mandi board officials said a total of 639379 MT of wheat has arrived in different markets. Pungrain has purchased a maximum of 180016 MT followed by Punsup 156592 MT Markfed 137233 MT Punjab Warehouse 79346 MT and the Food Corporation of India has purchased 74656 MT. Officials said 254178 MT of wheat crop has been lifted from grain markets and shifted to warehouses. Tajinderpal Singh head of the organisation said the services would be given free of cost to the needy in Tarn Taran.

Amritsar: The procurement agencies have purchased a total of 627843 metric tonne ( around 95 per cent) of wheat which arrived in grain markets in the district. Officials said total procurement would be around 7 lakh MT. They said more than Rs 610 crore has been disbursed to farmers and remaing payments would be done in time. The mandi board officials said a total of 639379 MT of wheat has arrived in different markets. Officials said 254178 MT of wheat crop has been lifted from grain markets and shifted to warehouses. They said the entire lifting would be completed within next 15 days. TNS Two teenage girls abducted Tarn Taran: Two teenage girls have been abducted in Sarhali Khurd and Manochahal Kalan villages of the district on the pretext of marriage. The police said Jagjit Singh Jagga of Habbowal (Kapurthala) with one of his unidentified accomplice abducted a 17-year-old girl from Sarhali Khurd village on May 5. In a statement to the police family members of the victim alleged that the accused abducted the girl by luring her of marriage. The accused has been booked under Sections 363 and 366 of the IPC. In second incident one Prince of Manochahal Kalan village has been booked for abducting a 16-year-old girl from his village on the intervening night of May 5-6. OC NSUI distributes ration kits Tarn Taran: The district unit of the National Students Union of India (NSUI) distributed ration kits among 100 needy families of the area on Monday. President of the union Hrithik Arora said he had launched a move under the “Farz Manukhta Lai” (duty towards humanity) to serve the needy amid the pandemic when many individuals had lost their jobs and it was getting hard for them to make both ends meet. OC Concentrators donated Tarn Taran: Khalsa Aid an organisation working with philanthropic spirit donated six oxygen concentrators to the local Tarn Taran Hariawal Lehar which is working for planting saplings in the town. Tajinderpal Singh head of the organisation said the services would be given free of cost to the needy in Tarn Taran. OC
